During the past week the Metropolis Fire Department has responded to a total of eight medical emergency calls and one smoke detector activation at Spence Apartments on Feb. 8. No fire was found.
In addition to those calls, on Feb. 5, city firefighters responded to a vehicle accident in a parking lot. There were no injuries reported. Also that evening, firefighters were called to U.S. 45 and Devers Road, where there was a two-car vehicle accident, which sent three victims to local hospitals to receive medical treatment.
And, on Feb. 9 the department was dispatched to the area of 12th and Ferry streets, where there was a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian. According to the departmentâ€™s report, no one was taken to the hospital.
