Gene and Pat Karnak

Gene and Pat Tapley, of Karnak, celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 14.

The couple exchanged wedding vows on Aug. 14, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Karnak.

Mrs. Tapley retired from Shawnee Development Council in Karnak.

Mr. Tapley owned and operated Tapley’s Service Station in Karnak after he returned home from the Korean War.

The couple enjoyed playing golf together for many years throughout the tri-state region.

They have two children, Scott Tapley and wife Kay of Karnak and Mecca Helm and husband Jeff of Grand Chain. They also have four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
