Hello. Well, would you believe we're on our last week of August, and fall is fast approaching. This past week has been very pleasant. We could get used to this, with no A/C, windows open, enjoying the breeze.
If you see these people, wish them a happy birthday: Janet Huckleberry Hester, Aug. 30; Chris Helton, Craig Bradley, Shanny Wilson Anderson and Tori Inman Little, all on Aug. 31; Huck Barham and Tammy Capps, both on Sept. 1; Stacy Shumaker Parker, Sept. 2; Sheriff Randy Kern and Tyrone Anderson, both on Sept. 4; and Sarah Carter and Alice Cameron Racy, both on Sept. 5.
Anniversary wishes are sent to Gerald and Rosa Anna Cain on Aug. 25.
Anderson Congregational Church had its annual picnic at Lake Glendale last week. There were several in attendance with good food and fellowship Congratulations to Ray Wilke and Josh Reagor for being the winners in the washer pitching. The day was cut short when the rain came with some leaving and some stayed.
Karnak's movie night in the park has been rescheduled for Friday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m. at Memorial Park. Everyone should bring a lawn chair. The movie is Rio. There will be concessions, including hot dogs, chips, popcorn, sodas, Capri Sun, water and fruit juice barrels. It might not hurt to bring a blanket. You never know.
I recently called an old engineering buddy of mine and asked what he was working on these days. He replied that he was working on "aqua-thermal treatment of ceramics, aluminum and steel under a constrained environment."
I was impressed until, upon further inquiry, I learned that he was washing dishes with hot water under his wife's supervision.
I hope you have a good week.
