Maple Grove, Lafarge recognize future scientists

Maple Grove Elementary School held a science fair before the end of the 2020-21 school year. Open to fourth- through sixth-graders, the event was sponsored by the Lafarge Joppa plant, which donated $1500 to the school to support a pizza party for all students in celebration of their work in STEM projects. The winners of the science fair received gift cards donated by the plant and a Lafarge hard hat. Winners were (from left, kneeling) Elizabeth Ward (third place, fourth grade), Connor Thweatt (first place, fourth grade); (standing) Lexie Snell (first place, sixth grade), Hannah Murphy (second place, sixth grade), Wyatt Willenborg (third place, sixth grade), Jett Beck (first place, fifth grade), Natalie Thweatt (second place, fifth grade), Landon Blanchard (third place, fifth grade); and (not pictured) Brooke Burns (second place, fourth grade).
