After several weeks of only seven cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in Massac County, that number has increased to 11 since June 24. The new cases include:

• A male in his 60s

• A female in her 20s

• A male in his 30s

• A female in her 50s

Of the 11 cases, seven have fully recovered and the other four are self isolating at home.

The total cases count in the Southern Seven Health Department (S7HD) is 299 with 197 of those being recovered. There have been 19 deaths, all in Union County, from the coronavirus. Total case county by county is:

• Union, 179

• Pulaski, 67

• Pope, 67

• Massac, 11

• Johnson, 20

• Hardin, 1

• Alexander, 20

As of Tuesday, statewide there have been 143,185 cases reported and 6923 deaths.

Massac Memorial Hospital continues to operate its COVID hotline daily from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for questions regarding COVID. The number is 618-638-1344.
