Metropolis man arrested for alleged rape, sodomy, sexual abuse

Anderson

Staff report

A former Metropolis City alderman, Nathan Andy Anderson, is behind bars in McCracken County after McCracken County Sheriff's Office received information in October from Metropolis Police Department regarding the possible rape of a teenage female.

Anderson served one term on the Metropolis City Council and ran for election to the office in 2016, when he ran for alderman in Ward Three, against Darryl Neill, who won.

According to a news release from McCracken County Sheriff's Department, detectives from Metropolis had already began investigating Anderson for crimes he had committed in Illinois. During their investigation, they discovered he had committed the same acts in several other states, including Kentucky.

With the assistance of the Metropolis Police Department, detectives from McCracken County Sheriff's Office began investigating Anderson as well. It was determined that Anderson, 47, from Metropolis, had committed several sexual crimes against a female teenager within McCracken County, and Anderson perpetrated the acts over approximately 14 months.

On Monday, Nov. 4, Anderson was located in Paducah by Metropolis and McCracken detectives. He was arrested and charged with one count each of rape third degree, sodomy third degree, sexual abuse third degree and unlawful transaction with a minor first degree.

According to McCracken County Sheriff's Department, more charges for acts committed in Kentucky are possible and more jurisdictions are expected to charge Anderson as well. It is believed Anderson committed similar crimes against the same juvenile in at least four different states.

Anderson was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
