We continue our mismatched spring weather as April ends and May begins. Hopefully, our rain episodes will become less frequent, and we can have more beautiful sunny, warmer temperatures to prevail. So many of us are so ready. I’m also sure our farmers are ready to get started planting, also.

All the spring flowers and shrubs sure are beautiful. I’m enjoying seeing all of them that have been shared on Facebook and viewing as driving.

Two of my neighbors remain in the hospital after being admitted several weeks ago. Mike Rushing remains in an Evansville hospital where he has had surgery and other problems he’s battling. Our continued thoughts and prayers are sent to him for a complete recovery.

Jason Jacobs is at Lourdes after falling from his tractor and suffering a brain bleed three weeks ago. He’s in rehab now and has made improvements, but still in need of our thoughts and prayers. There has been a benefit account set up for him at City National Bank in Metropolis to assist with medical expenses. If you wish to donate, you can drop it off in person at the main CNB branch or mail to CNB, P.O. Box 380, Metropolis, IL 62960. Make note that it is for Jason’s benefit. His family thanks you in advance for your help.

Debbie Williams is home after a vacation to Florida with her daughter Lauren Williams and grandkids. I’m sure she enjoyed her time away from the hassles of work.

All those who participated in the Trivia Night Saturday at the FLC had a great evening of fun, and raised several hundred dollars and numerous diaper donations for Hope Unlimited. Thanks goes to Jennifer Travis for organizing the event and for all who took part.

Happy birthday wishes are sent this week to Sadie Travis, Lauren Smith, Krissy Steward and Debbie Williams.

Happy April anniversary wishes are sent to Frank and Sara Forthman, Jack and Heather Rigsby, Hartzel and Loralea Black and Larry and Jolene Flynn.

Going to be a busy week in Paducah and hopefully in Metropolis as the Quilt Show returns to Paducah after a hiatus due to COVID-19. The last event was held in 2019.

Wishing everyone a great week.
