Driver arrested for driving on suspended license

A Metropolis Police officer stopped a gray Mitsubishi on James Drive near West 10th St. for an expired registration sticker, which expired in October 2019. A computer check on the driver, Homer T. Cissell, 51, of Metropolis revealed his driver's license was suspended. Cissell could not provide proof of insurance. Cissell was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. Cissell was lodged at Massac County Detention Center.

Driver arrested for driving on suspended license

A Metropolis Police officer observed a white Toyota pick-up truck turning onto Coburn Street from 12th Street. The officer recognized the driver as Cale A. Lewis, 38, of Metropolis. The officer was aware Lewis had a suspended driver's license. A traffic stop was conducted, and a computer check verified his driver's license status. Lewis was arrested and lodged at Massac County Detention Center.

Mailed cannabis leads to arrest

Agents from the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, Metropolis Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Service executed a search warrant in Metropolis as part of an investigation concerning large amounts of cannabis being sent through the mail.

During the search, agents seized over 3,000 grams, or 6.6 pounds, of cannabis. Howard M. Palmer, 42, of Metropolis, was arrested and transported to the Massac County Jail.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Massac County Sheriff's Office and the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
