Dec. 15

A Metropolis sergeant was advised by a passing motorist of a domestic disturbance in the parking lot of the Acee’s Truck Stop. As the sergeant and a Massac County deputy were arriving, they observed a vehicle matching the description leaving the parking lot. A stop was made, and the parties identified. Officers learned that the victim had been struck on the head by the offender with a closed fist. Jereny A Eaton, 30, of Peoria, Arizona, was arrested for domestic battery. Eaton was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Dec. 16

A Metropolis officer stopped a gray Volkswagen in the 100 block of East 21st Street. The plates registered to a Nissan. The driver, Bradley D Hicks, 45, of Metropolis, had a revoked driver’s license. Hicks was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to domestic disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of East Third Street. Officers learned the victim had been attacked by Amber M. Gilbert, 33, of Metropolis. The victim had deep scratches on her neck and had to be pulled off the victim. Gilbert was arrested for domestic battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Dec. 18

A Metropolis sergeant observed a red Chevrolet pickup truck drive by a crash scene he was assisting Massac County at on North Avenue and Country Club Road. The sergeant recognized the driver as Donald E. Obermark, 79, of Metropolis. Obermark has been cited numerous times for driving without a valid driver’s license (cancelled by the Secretary of State). A traffic stop was conducted, and Obermark was again cited for no valid driver’s license. His vehicle was towed, and he was released on bond.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
