Feb. 20Metropolis Police responded to River Ag on Yasoda Street for a theft report. Officers learned that a large amount of copper was stolen from the facility, according to police. Police said Cale A. Lewis, 41, of Metropolis, was later arrested and charged with felony theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. In all, police said approximately $4,500 worth of copper was recovered.
Seth A. Slayton, 19, of Paducah, was cited on possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police said officers were called to SuperBowl Metropolis for a report of an underaged person drinking. Slayton was issued a notice to appear and was released, according to police. He was also trespassed from the property at the request of management.
Feb. 21A Metropolis officer stopped a blue Chevrolet Impala for speeding 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Fifth and Ophia streets. Police said a computer check on the driver, Hannah L. Walker, 23, of Calvert City, Kentucky, revealed her driver’s license was suspended. Walker was cited on speeding and driving while suspended, according to police. Walker was released on a notice to appear.
Feb. 22Paige A Gelso, 20, of Metropolis, was arrested in the 1200 block of East Fifth Street. Police said Gelso was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County on driving while license suspended. Gelso was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Feb. 24Jeremy L. Shumaker, 36, of Paducah, was arrested at Big John grocery. Police said Shumaker was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County on driving while license suspended. Shumaker was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Feb. 25Metropolis officers were called to Massac Memorial Hospital for a domestic disturbance. Police said Joshua D. Coontz, 45, of Elgin, was later charged with aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Police was called to Thrive Dispensary for a disturbance. Police said Darrell W. Green, 36, of an unknown address in Tennessee, was later arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Feb. 26 Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at 1909 Ferry St. Police said Joshua T. Lindsey, 24, of Metropolis, was later charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of controlled substance with the intent to deliver. Police also said that Jordyn A. Smith, 21, of Kevil, Kentucky, was charged with possession of a stolen handgun. According to police, Jerry T. Helton, 67, of Metropolis, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and no valid FOID card. All were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Feb. 28 Metropolis officers were called to the alley near the 1000 block of East Sixth Street for a disturbance. Police said James Clint Stevens, 41, of Metropolis, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis officer saw a woman he recognized as Phoebe N. Davis, 38, of Metropolis, walking down Broadway Street. Police said Davis was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County on residential burglary. Davis denied who she was and gave the officer a fake name, according to police. Police said once Davis was identified, she was charged with obstructing identification, and a search found her to be in possession of meth, drug paraphernalia and Nortriptyline, a controlled substance. Police said Davis was charged with these offenses and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Christina L. Avila, 52, of Metropolis, was arrested in the 1300 block of Filmore. Avila was wanted on warrants issued by Massac County on domestic battery and criminal trespass to property, according to police. Avila was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Shane R. Oliver, 42, of Metropolis, was observed at the Spence Apartments, according to police. Police said Oliver was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County on drug-related charges. Oliver was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
March 1 A Metropolis officer stopped a white Ford Pick-up truck for speeding — 69 mph in a posted 45 mph zone — on U.S. 45 near the Massac Creek Bridge. Police said the driver, Cory A. Hendrick, 26, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license and speeding. He was released on bond.
The preceding information pertains to an arrest made by the Metropolis Police Department. This arrest was made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
