Metropolis officers were called to a residence in the 1500 block of Butler for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that Lisa M. Johnston, 42, of Metropolis, had sprayed ammonia into the face of the victim during an argument. Johnston was arrested for domestic battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to a residence in the Spence Apartments. The caller stated that Craig L. Montgomery, 31, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was inside the apartment. Montgomery was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County for domestic battery. The caller also informed the police that the apartment belonged to the victim and also that there were two children inside. The caller communicated with the victim, Samantha J. Norwood, 29, of Metropolis, attempting to get her to open the apartment. Norwood refused. After a period of time, an employee of the Massac County Housing Authority arrived with a key. After consulting with the Massac County State’s Attorney and not knowing if the victim, Norwood, was being held against her will, entry was made. Norwood would not let the officers go up the stairs and blocked their path. As she was being moved, she became combative and struck an officer in the face. Norwood was taken into custody after a struggle. Montgomery was found upstairs and cooperated. Montgomery was arrested for the warrant. Norwood was arrested and charged with obstructing justice, battery and resisting arrest. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. The children were turned over to a relative. Metropolis police were assisted by Massac County deputies.

A Metropolis officer observed a white Chevrolet proceeding the wrong way down a one-way street on North Avenue from 11th Street. A traffic stop was conducted. A computer check showed that the driver, Kade ML Brown, 23, of Burna, Kentucky, has a suspended driver’s license. Brown was charged and was released on bond.

Sept. 20

Kevin M. Welch, 25, of Paducah, was arrested at the Massac County Courthouse. Welch was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County for driving while license suspended. Welch was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Sept. 21

A Metropolis officer stopped a blue BMW for speeding 64 mph in a 45 mph zone on Devers Road. A computer check showed the driver, Richard J. Dodd, 30, of Metropolis, as having a suspended driver’s license. Dodd was charged and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Sept. 25

Metropolis officers were called to Hardee’s for a counterfeit currency call. Upon arrival, officers spoke with employees who stated that Ryan D. Sutton, 40, of Metropolis, attempted to pay for his meal with a fake $100 bill. The bill had Chinese writing on it and other particulars which made it obvious it was fake. Sutton’s version of the events was also different than the employees. Sutton was charged and arrested for fraud. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
