A Metropolis officer stopped a gold colored Honda Accord on East Second Street at Metropolis Street for expired registration. Police said Jackson J. Snow, 38, of Metropolis, was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and expired registration. Snow was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Steven D. Cleary, 34, of Brookport, was arrested at Harrah’s Casino. Cleary was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County on failure to appear — suspended driver’s license, according to police. Cleary was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis officers were called to a crash that occurred in the parking lot of the Illinois Secretary of State office. Police said, upon arrival, officers met with the driver, Steve Gordon Bennett, 20, of Karnak, who had backed his vehicle into a parked unattended vehicle. Bennett was charged with DUI-drugs, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, according to police. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
After an investigation by Metropolis police detectives, Charles M.W. McManus, 26, of Metropolis, was arrested and charged with attempted predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to police. Police also said that, due to the age of the victim, no further information is being disclosed. McManus was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests were made on the basis of probable cause, and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
