Dec. 21

Denise A Gilbert, 49, of Metropolis, was arrested in the 800 block of Vienna St. Gilbert was wanted on warrants were issued by Massac County for possession of meth and dangerous drugs. Gilbert was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at the Speedy Mart gas station on 12th and Coburn streets. Upon arrival officers, learned the victim’s vehicle had been damaged. Ceasaro M. Davis, 46, of Sesser. was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property.

Dec. 24

A Metropolis sergeant observed a green Ford Mustang convertible leave the Casey’s gas station on 10th St. The sergeant recognized the driver as Jonothon R. Rideoput, 43, pf Metropolis. The sergeant was aware that Rideoput had a suspended driver’s license. A computer check confirmed that he was still suspended in Illinois and Kentucky A traffic stop was made. Rideoput could not provide proof of insurance. Rideoput was charged with driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Rideoput was released on bond.

Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance at the Harrah’s Casino. Officers were informed the subject was yelling and screaming at people. Officers located the subject who refused to cooperate. The subject then attempted to flee and ran across the parking lot. Timothy W. Cooper, 52, of Metropolis, was subdued. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Cooper was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to a residence in the 1000 block of Pearl St. The victim advised that she returned home to see a subject inside one of her vehicles. Ricky W. Owens, 48, of Metropolis, tried to tell her the vehicle belonged to a relative. As the victim attempted to enter her home, Owens followed her claiming the residence also belonged to a relative and that he was going inside. Owens was charged with criminal trespass to vehicle and criminal trespass to property. Owens was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Dec. 25

Metropolis Police received a call at approximately 2:30 a.m. from a citizen of suspicious persons in the park next to the city pool. Upon checking the area, officers located a 13-year-old female and a 15-year-old male in the park. Both were charged with curfew violations. They were taken to the Metropolis Police Department for processing and released to parents/grandparents with a court date.

Dec. 27

A Metropolis officer stopped a white Jeep SUV for expired registration on 10th and Leonard streets. A computer check showed the plates were expired and the driver, Brittney L. Bennett, 32, of Metropolis, had a suspended driver’s license. Bennett also could not provide proof of insurance. Bennett was charged with driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. She was released on bond.

Dec. 28

Metropolis officers responded to a crash on North Ave. and Carter Drive. The investigation revealed that Blake A. Lynch, 29, of Metropolis, was traveling on North Avenue at a high rate of speed. He passed another vehicle and then rear-ended another vehicle. The force of the collision forced the vehicles to strike a fence and light pole. Lynch was charged with reckless driving, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and speeding. Both drivers were taken by ambulance to hospitals. Lynch was released on bond.

Dec. 30

Cutis D. Whited, 42, of Metropolis, was arrested for disorderly conduct. The victim stated that Whited was cursing and yelling at her and her children even after being told to leave. Whited was located down the street and arrested for disorderly conduct. Whited was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
