“Behold, I come quickly, blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.”
— Revelation 22:7
Last words are to be cherished, and these are some of the last words recorded in God’s Word as Jesus tells us He is coming again.
I have heard this all my life from preachers, teachers and even laypeople, plus even I have spoken about Jesus’ return. God’s Word is very positive and firm in speaking of His return.
Have you ever played the game hide and seek as a kid? You remember that you had a group that would run and hide and one would be the seeker. This one who was to do the seeking would hide their eyes and count to 10 or 100 and they with a loud voice say, “Ready or not, here I come.”
In Revelation 22:7, the first thing that stands out is there will come a day when it will be, “Ready or not, Jesus will come.” Because of Jesus’ coming, it will be a victorious time for those ready because of what Jesus did at Calvary by dying on the cross for our sins.
It is told that Napoleon knew there was one thing, one force, that stood in his way. It’s said he gathered all of his top officers together around a large table. Napoleon unfolded a large map of Europe on the table with one big red spot on it. That spot was England. Pounding his fist in rage on the table, he said, “If it were not for that red spot, I could have it all.”
That’s a great story, but I know one better.
Picture Satan gathering all his demonic spirits around a large table in hell, looking at the map of the world with a big red spot on it. That red spot marks a little hill in Israel, just outside the city of Jerusalem. On that hill stands a cross, stained with the blood of Jesus. Satan knows he has gone as far as he can go and with blinding fury shouts, “If it were not for that red spot, I could have had them all.”
Jesus is coming again, I don’t know when, nor does anyone else, but what I do know is that it’s one day closer than yesterday. Ready or not, Jesus is coming again.
