The Massac County Treasurer’s Office has announced prepayments towards 2019 real estate taxes, payable in 2020, will now be accepted. Although the tax cycle has not started and dates have not been set, County Treasurer Jody Haverkamp says residents may want to get ahead with their stimulus checks from the COVID-19 crisis.

“We want to give every tax payer options to help ease the financial situation later in the year when tax bills are sent,” said Haverkamp.

Prepayments can be any amount and can be mailed to the treasurer’s office and made payable to County Treasurer. The parcel number must be included on the check and can be found on last year’s tax bill. Information can be found on the Fike and Fike website at fikeandfike.com. Mail payments to 1 Superman Square, Metropolis, IL 62960.

Online payments can also be made at govtechtaxpro.com and will include a service fee.

“Once we state the tax cycle you will receive your tax bill that will reflect your payment or payments that have been made,” Haverkamp said. “We will try to keep you updated on when the actual tax cycle begins.”
