Shawnee Community College (SCC) once again hosted the annual Shawnee Experience Day on Oct. 10, inviting seniors from district high schools to the main campus for an all-day college immersion experience.

Local students heard presentations about careers and programs offered at SCC, received financial aid information and embarked on tours of the campus.

Additionally, students had an opportunity to collect information about the many clubs and organizations and were able to interact with faculty and staff from the college.

The program also offered several group activities around the campus pond, where students could earn points to help their school win the Shawnee Experience Challenge trophy.

Activities included volleyball, corn hole, giant connect four, drone races and basketball competitions.

Vienna High School earned enough points to be the overall winners for this year's event.

Students who may be interested in attending college upon graduating next spring are encouraged to apply for financial aid.

For questions regarding financial aid options, contact the Shawnee Community College Financial Aid Office at 618-634-3200 and select Option 1, then Option 2.
