Jerry Mizell celebrated one year of good health on Saturday, following a kidney transplant in May 2019.
“A year ago today on May 16, 2019 one of God’s angels, Molly Stratemeyer, blessed me with the gift of life, a kidney transplant,” said Mizell.
Stratemeyer says she prayed many times about the donation. “ I prayed long and hard about it, and every time God told me it was the right thing to do,” she said.
Stratemeyer’s husband, Josh Stratemeyer, has battled cancer in recent years. “With everything Josh has been through in his battle with cancer, I knew I had to do it. If it weren’t for donors of different types of blood products, Josh’s outcome might not be what we have today,” said Stratemeyer.
She encourages everyone to consider donating, even if it’s blood or platelets. “Or become an organ donor and let your family know that is what you want. Save lives people. It truly is one of the greatest blessings I have ever received,” she said.
“Molly has given me a miracle of living again. Thanks to St. Thomas Hospital, Molly and God for this gift,” said Mizell.
