Local author SaBrina Beck will hold a signing of her first book, “Dung Bag Road: A Personal Account of Depression and Recovery,” from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at the Metropolis Public Library. The drawings were done by Beck during her cognitive behavioral therapy. In her book, Beck wrote that the doodles “helped me process emotions when I could not verbalize them.” Thirteen years later, she used these and other doodles to explore the experiences that lead to her depression and recovery.

SaBrina Beck carried the blue binder with her each year on her trips home to Arizona.

It took 13 years for her to open it up and explore the drawings inside.
