“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)

I hope this doesn’t offend you or come to a shock to some of you, but we are getting older each day.

I look in the mirror, and I see a lot of gray hair and wrinkles now more than I use to. I’ve even asked myself at times, “How did I get this way?”

I can remember when I was a young man and went to our local grocery store where in the back was a place where the older men in the community met and talked and played checkers. They told me then as a young man to just wait till I get older, that this would happen, and I didn’t believe them.

Today, I would have to apologize to them because they were right because it has happened.

Growing older is not to be a burden, and we should not get bitter about it, grumpy or even complain. Because as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, it tells me that yes, my outward physical body is wasting away, but inwardly, my spirit is being renewed each and every day.

And as we grow older, we ought to grow wiser and more understanding.

Understanding of faults of others and kinder in our expressions to others as encouragers. The Lord can use us in so many ways, and the great thing about all this is we are being renewed every day in our faith and walk with Him.
