MCDAC meets Wednesday

Massac County Drug Awareness Coalition (MCDAC) meets the third Wednesday of every month at 8 a.m. via Zoom. Meetings are open to the public. The next meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 17. MCDAC is a group of volunteers determined to provide leadership, education and resources in order to build and sustain communities of knowledgeable citizens who make healthy and safe choices through the reduction of substance abuse. Native Plant Society meets Tuesday

The Southern Chapter of the Illinois Native Plant Society will host a virtual presentation — “Oaks and Caterpillars: Diversity and Natural History” — at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16. Dr. Jim Whitfield of the University of Illinois will discuss his research on the ecology of caterpillars on plants, along with the parasitic wasps that attack the caterpillars, with a special emphasis on the caterpillars found on Ozark oaks. Together We Can drive begins Monday

Together We can, a canned soup drive benefiting southern Illinois, will accepted cans of soup or monetary donations starting Monday, Feb. 15, through Monday, March 15. Donations can be dropped off at Little Tractor & Equipment in Marion and Harrisburg, Farmers State Bank, Southern Illinois Worship Center or Little Chapel Church.
