Paper drive dates announcedMetropolis Boy School Troop 101 has announced it will continue its paper drive community project. The drive is held the third Saturday of odd numbered months. Collection dates are: Jan. 16; March 20; May 15; July 17; Sept. 18; and Nov. 20. Newspapers should be bundled together and set out for pickup from 8:30-11 a.m. these Saturdays. Classes resume Monday

Massac County Unit One School District and the Joppa-Maple Grove School District will resume in-person learning on Monday, Jan. 4. Unit 1 students will resume the school year’s four-day schedule with in-person learners getting out at 12:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday so afternoons are open for teachers to work with remote-learners and keeping Friday as a full-remote day for all students. Joppa-Maple Grove students will continue in-person learning from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with 2-3 p.m. open daily for teachers to work with remote learners and Wednesday as a remote-learning day for all.
