Betty Williams


Betty Elaine Chick Williams, 79, of La Vergne, Tennessee, formerly of Metropolis, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Born July 3, 1939 in Metropolis, Mrs. Williams was a member of La Vergne Church of Christ, where she supported her minister husband and served as a secretary for many years. Most recently, she was a member of Gilroy Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of over 57 years, Jon Gary Williams of La Vergne; one daughter, Sherra Taylor and husband Tim of Nashville, Tennessee; one son, Brian Williams and wife Cindy of La Vergne; one granddaughter, Lori Beth Taylor of Nashville; three grandsons, Jeff Taylor of Brentwood, Tennessee and Adam Williams and Cade Williams, both of La Vergne; one sister, Alice Nix and husband Don of Kingston Springs, Tennessee; her twin brother, Bob Chick of Bryant; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Bertha Chick.

Funeral service was held July 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Jon Gary and Betty Williams Endowed Academic Scholarship at Freed-Hardeman University.
