Boyd Richard Stewart, 71, of Metropolis, died Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Mercy Health in Paducah.

Mr. Stewart was a member and deacon of Brookport First Baptist Church. He retired from USEC in Paducah and was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Mr. Stewart was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Alma Stewart; two daughters, Cindy Dyer and Melissa Meyer and husband Adam; one son, Richard Stewart and wife Shelly; eight grandchildren, Haleigh Moore and husband Austin, Daniele Murray, Hunter Dyer, Madelyn Stewart, Jase Stewart, Lillian Meyer, Gabriel Meyer and Hannah Meyer; two great-grandchildren, Charleigh and Nora Moore; one sister-in-law, Julie Stewart; two nephews, Clay Stewart and wife Pam and Jon Stewart and wife Lisa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lillian Kennedy Stewart; and one brother, Bob Stewart.

Funeral service was held Friday at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. David Siere officiating. Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted.
