Carl B. “Hook” Blanchard, 67, of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Hook was born July 19, 1954, in Hudsonville, son to the late William Troy and Fern (Bridges) Blanchard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; and was a retired manager with a river dredging company.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Blanchard on Jan. 1, 2022; two brothers, James Albert “Sonny” and Bobbie Eugene Blanchard; and a sister, Billie June Rhodes.

Survivors include his children, Michael (Jessica) Blanchard of Draffenville, Kentucky; Murray (Jessica) Blanchard of Metropolis; Gavin (Eliza) Blanchard of Metropolis; Michelle (William) Meyer of Karnak; and Melanie (Jason) Harris of Metropolis; brother, Garold (Louise) Blanchard of Grand Chain; Cindy Malley (Gary Earnhart) of Mounds; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Blanchard of Villa Ridge; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Joint funeral services for Hook and his wife, Helen were held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2021, at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Steve Heisner officiated. Interment followed in the Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
