Charles "Speedy" Edward Meadows, 81, of Metropolis, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Mr. Meadows retired from Allied Chemical of Metropolis after 26 years of service. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Metropolis.

Survivors include his seven children, Valda Wade and husband Larry, Charles Lee Meadows, Bruce Meadows and wife Adella, Betty Meadows, Doris Meadows-Puckett and husband Robert, Patricia Smith and husband Benjamin and Andre' Meadows and wife Candice; 12 grandchildren, Lacy Evitts and husband Chad, Bre'Anna Puckett-Woods, Lexie Wade, Elisia Cruz, Isaiah Cruz, Mackenzie Meadows-Puckett, Samuel Cruz, Sara Cruz, Gavin Aleta Smith, Jasmine Meadows, Christopher Puckett and Jada Meadows; five great-grandchildren, Trae Foulks, Jodi Hyte, Brielle Woods, Skye Wade and Kendrick Poole; two brothers, Robert Meadows and Roy Meadows; and one sister, Mable Kay Duffy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlander Meadows Sr. and Wilma Crim-Meadows; his wife, Dorothy Lee Meadows; two sisters, Wilomena "Willie" Warren and Phyllis Meadows; and one brother, Orlander "Junior" Meadows Jr.

Funeral service was held Monday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Metropolis with Rev. Orlando McReynolds officiating. Burial followed at the Masonic Cemetery in Metropolis.

Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home of Metropolis was in charge of arrangements.
