James "Jimmy" Collins, 88, of Karnak, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

Born June 7, 1930 in Makanda Mr. Collins was a member of Karnak United Methodist Church. He worked as maintenance for the Village of Karnak for many years and later retiring as management supervisor from the MAP Training Center in Metropolis.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Joyce Little Collins; one daughter, April Lilly of Mount Vernon; one grandson, Anthony Jones and wife Lori of Grand Chain; three granddaughters, Bertha Reed, Johna Lilly and Amberlea Smith; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his son, James Anthony Collins; his parents, Jim and Kate Cox Collins; one sister, Wanda Spurlock; and one brother, Charles Collins.

Graveside service was held Wednesday at Lower Salem Cemetery in rural Grand Chain with Rev. Alan Milligan officiating with full military honors conducted by U.S. Army Burial Detail Team and area veterans.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak was in charge of funeral arrangements.
