Jimmy Gentry, 74, of Paducah, formerly of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Jimmy was born in Hayti, Missouri, on May 27, 1947 to the late Noah and Thelma Gentry. He was a graduate of Southern Illinois University. Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Navy and had a long successful career in sales. Jimmy was full of life and his presence was felt as soon as he entered a room. His friends and family were everything to him and he adored his grandkids and greats. Jimmy was a devout Christian and attended Twin Lakes Worship Center.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Morris Gentry, of Paducah; one daughter, Brooke Gentry Clanton and husband, William, of Rutherford, Tennessee; one son, Nathan Taylor and wife, Jenny, of Summerville, South Carolina; two sisters, Linda Howard (Jimmy) and Sharon Gentry; two brothers, Jerry Gentry (Connie) and Benny Gentry (Sandy), all of Metropolis, Illinois; five grandchildren, Gentry and Luke Clanton, Caden and Finley Taylor, Isabella Taylor; two-great grandchildren, Saint and Kreu.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Wanda Mizell; two brothers, Jackie Gentry and Tommy Gentry; and one son, Jeremy Taylor.

A funeral service for Jimmy was held Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home. Jeremy Short officiated. Burial followed at Benton City Cemetery.
