Larry "Kimosabe" Bates, 73, of Brownfield, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at his home.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with Pastor Tommy Dutton officiating. Burial will follow at Reevesville Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9227 and American Legion Post 719 of Golconda and U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Team.

Born on Oct. 7, 1945 in Metropolis, Mr. Bates served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include one daughter, Tanna Sue Bates of Quincy; one grandson, Tyler Bates of USAF Baltimore; two sisters, Sharon Orlowski of Portland, Oregon and Susan Shepard of Brownfield; two brothers, Bobby Gene "Leroy" Bates of Grantsburg and Jerry Farri and wife April; two nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Helen Fowler Bates; two brothers, Ray Bates and Stephan Bates; and one sister-in-law, Carlene Bates.
