Larry Reichert


Larry "Skip" Reichert, 69, of Grand Chain, passed away at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Skip was born Oct. 10, 1949 in Cairo. He was a beloved husband and father, a caring grandfather, a successful farmer and an avid animal lover.

He planned vacations around places to eat and history lessons. Family was one of the only things that would bring him in from the field. He loved watching his grandkids participate in their sports and activities.

Skip began farming in Grand Chain with his father, Hiram. Through the years, he farmed with help from his nephews and son. Skip and Jasson have continued the family tradition of farming through the years and expanded the farm.

He was a member of Mount Sterling Church and a former Farm Bureau board member. For several years, he attended and was active at Milburn Chapel in Paducah.

He left behind his wife of 50 years, Karen Kickasola Reichert; his daughter, Penny Reichert Bellamey (Tim); his son, Jasson Reichert (Leah); his grandchildren, Alex Bellamey (Amber Van Duyse), Lauren Grace Bellamey, Madison Reichert and Nolan Reichert; his brother, Edward Reichert (Betty); his sister, Judith Reichert Gotway (Gerald); several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Sally.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Irene McKee Reichert; and an infant brother.

Funeral service was held Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak with Bro. Doug Hughes officiating.

Burial followed at the Masonic Cemetery in Grand Chain. Pallbearers were Alex Bellamey, Nolan Reichert, Chris Gotway, Kevin Reichert, Sean Pegram, Jacob Pegram, Lane Pegram and John Hannan. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Inman, Lee Pegram, Michael Severns, Robert Spaulding, Shane Pegram, John Harp and Les Wright.

Memorials may be made to made to Pulaski-Alexander Farm Bureau Foundation in Mounds.
