Mary Viola Triplett, 85, of Metropolis, passed away on April 2, 2021, at the Henderson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, Kentucky.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at IOOF Cemetery in Metropolis, Illinois, with Justin Wolfe officiating.

Mary was born on June 5, 1935, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Eli and Bell Douglas. Mary liked to read her bible and listen to old southern gospel music. She loved the Lord and everyone knew it. When she wasn’t sleeping, she was singing.

Mary is survived by her children, James Willard Triplett of Dickson, Tennessee, Dwayne Edward Triplett of Henderson, Kentucky, and Geraldine Sellars of Henderson, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Triplett of Henderson, Kentucky; sisters, Daisy Spencer of Metropolis, and Bobbie Pollis of Martin, Tennessee; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Willard Triplett; sisters, Hazel Sawyers, Elsie Rucker, and Margie Riggs.
