Timothy James “T.J.” Jurgens, 18, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 in Fort Hood, Texas. 

Funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville with Pastor Casey Atwell officiating.

Born July 7, 1999 in Effingham, T.J. was a 2017 graduate of Pope County High School and enlisted in the US Army before graduation. 

He enjoyed music and drama club in high school, as he loved to make people laugh.  No one laughed harder than him.

He was a joy to all he encountered.  

T.J. loved the Lord.  He loved his family and his friends.   

He loved his church family and kept strong relationships with every church he participated in. 

Survivors include his parents, Thad and Tommi Jurgens of Golconda; his brothers, Hunter (Katie) Jurgens of Jasper, Indiana and Lane Jurgens of Litchfield; one sister, Josie Jurgens of Golconda; his grandparents, Carol and John Sheehan of Teutopolis, Tom and Tammy Logsdon of St. Elmo, Greg and Elaine Lilly of Mode and Paul and Doris McConkey of Brownstown; and his great-grandparents, Marilyn Logsdon of St. Elmo and Lydia Hemrich of Effingham.  

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold “Tubby” Jurgens; his uncle, Louis Jurgens; his great-grandfather William “Bill” Logsdon; and his great-grandparents, Arthur and Ruth Forbes.  

Memorials may be made to the Pope County High School Music Department, 125 State Highway 146 West, Golconda, IL 62938.
