Travis Girtman


Travis Lee Girtman, 35, of Metropolis, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Baptist Health Paducah with his loving family by his side.

Born Aug. 12, 1983, Travis was a 2002 graduate of Massac County High School. He was employed at Metropolis Big John and TJ Maxx of Paducah. He loved seeing people and visiting with them.

Travis was an active member of First Baptist Church of Metropolis, where he served as an usher and a nursery worker for many years.

He was an avid sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Tennessee Titans and MSU Racers and enjoyed attending baseball and football games.

Travis was a huge movie buff and enjoyed collecting them and going to the show.

Travis is survived by his parents, Charles E. "Chuck" and Donna Brumley Girtman; one brother, Samuel Girtman; one grandmother, Catherine Brumley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Laura Girtman and Ado Brumley.

Funeral service was held June 11 at Aikins-Farmer Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating.

Burial followed at Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Ben Girtman, Daniel Calhoun, Rob Fickert, Jonathan Fulgham, Corey Culp and Alex Brumley.

Memorials may be given in Travis' name to First Baptist Church Metropolis, 307 Massac Creek Rd., Metropolis, IL 62960; or St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
