Dear Editor:

I appreciate that Galen Shelton has read a book that is not sports-related, but before he starts offering commentary on today's youth, I recommend that he read a few more books.

I understand what he's saying. He's saying it takes a man to raise a man. But there are numerous books that disprove that theory since he was born.

Look at your big sky western states, where men know what it means to be masculine. Suicide rates are higher there with white males than any other part of the country. It's not masculine to admit you're isolated, feeling lonely or suffering from mental illness. No, the masculine thing to do is to put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.

Is that what you want, Mr. Shelton? Maybe a sissy boy is less likely to go hunting or fishing, but they are also less likely to pick up a gun.
