Box signs letter to play at SCC

Beth Shelton | Metropolis Planet

Paige Box recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Shawnee Community College. "Just carryin' on a family tradition", Box said. Her mother, Amanda Kingle, followed the same route "a few years back." Paige plans to study elementary education, which is also a family tradition. First year coach Chevis Thompson said he envisions Box at a "stretch four" position. At Massac, Box was a strong rebounder and could also shoot from outside. Thompson also is sold on local recruiting as Box will join other girls from surrounding schools such as Meridian, Vienna, as he puts together his first edition of Saints basketball. Box is flanked by Thompson and her mother. Back row, from left, is retiring Lady Patriot basketball coach Jim Prevallet, new head basketball coach Justin Kindle and assistant coach Rachael Coakley.
