Monday's Class 2A golf regional at Crab Orchard Golf Club in Carterville spelled the end for Massac County's boys golf team.

While the team's season is now over, senior Noah Matesevac and junior Hayden Summers will advance to Charleston's sectional competition next Monday.

Benton won the regional and, along with Carbondale and Herrin, move on to Charleston.

Benton's Brad Hammond was the overall medalist with a 74. Matesevac and Summers will represent Massac as individuals next Monday.

Massac's scoring went like this. Summers shot an 82, which was the seventh best score of the day and placed him in 11th place. Matesevac shot 88, which got him in as the last individual.

JJ Sweatt came in at 92 with Brandon Burnett carding a 94. Senior Micah Troutt suffered a disastrous start and got home with a 96, and Isaac Burnett gutted out a 98.
