Jackie Pirtle Hall of St. Charles Missouri is an elite distance runner who has close connections to Metropolis.
She is the niece of Gary and Marty Pirtle of Metropolis and a cousin of Jeremy and Jonathan Pirtle. Hall is the daughter of Jerry and Beth Pirtle of St. Charles and the granddaughter of Ruth and Chares Pirtle, formerly of Mounds.
The runner spent many weeks of her childhood in Metropolis and played junior golf in the summers at Metropolis Country Club.
Hall just added another big running accomplishment to her impressive career. She traveled to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida Feb. 21-24 with her sister, Jerren Pirtle-McKamely, and her mother to compete with 25,000 runners at the Disney Princess Half Marathon.
Hall won the race -- 13.1 miles at a 6:00 minute per mile pace. She had the fastest time of all the half marathon runners, for both men and women.
Hall has been running since fifth grade and worked herself into being an impressive high school runner -- still holding her high school's record in the 800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter events and recently was voted into her high school's Sports Hall of Fame. Hall also ran for the University of Missouri and Lindenwood University.
Some of Hall's prior running wins include being a three-time winner of the St. Louis Marathon, which is 26.2 miles -- smashing the prior record by over 10 minutes with a time of 2 hours, 42 minutes.
Hall's career best marathon time is two hours, 41 minutes.
She is also a two-time winner at the Christi Clinic Marathon in Champaign.
Most impressive, however, is Hall qualified and ran in the 2012 Olympic trials in Houston, Texas and recently ran a qualifying time for the upcoming U.S. Olympic trials to be held in Atlanta, Georgia in 2020.
To get herself into such an elite, competitive level, Hall has a grueling training regime including strenuous workouts with a personal training at her brother Matthew Pirtle's fitness facility, Emerge Fitness Training in St. Charles. Her running schedule often begins at 4:30 a.m. before going to her job as a high school English teacher at Liberty High School in Wentzville, Missouri.
Hall is married to Jonathan Hall and the mother of two daughters: Samantha, 10; and Gwyneth, 5.
