Century softball coach Raegan Hannan stated the obvious when we last visited: “A lot of these girls are just tired — tired physically and mentally.”

I’ve heard that a lot lately. With the fluid, and sometimes overlapping, schedules many of the student-athletes, as well as their coaches and athletic directors, are meeting themselves coming and going.

When asked about a lineup for the upcoming season, Hannan said: “I know this, Ashton Dillow will pitch, Kylee VanMeter will catch, JaBre Solomon can pitch as well and a lot of my other girls can play multiple positions and they will. We’re gonna ease into things, we’ll figure out the rest of the lineup and let these girls catch their second wind. Some of them have gone from basketball to volleyball and now to softball, and they’re a little frazzled.”

Century opened its season on Monday, April 26, with Joppa. They have a dozen or so games on the slate through May.
