Massac County's Lady Patriots can't buy a break right now.

After losing "sixth man" Jessie Lewis to a leg injury, the girls lost leading scorer Farrah Castleman to a knee injury. Last week's Harrisburg and Anna games just compounded the problems for first-year coach Justin Kindle as a couple more kids went down, at least temporarily.

The short-handed girls played unbeaten Harrisburg to a draw, for two of the four quarters, but went down badly in the second and fourth frames to eventually lose 52-41.

Cali McCraw shouldered a lot of the scoring load with 17 points. Kendra Waldon chipped in 11, but it wasn't enough.

Saturday's game with A-J was more of the same as the girls dropped this one 42-34. Again, McCraw had to do most of the scoring with 15. Right now Kindle's roster is riddled with either serious injuries that could be season ending or nagging things that make it hard to find any continuity.

The girls were scheduled to take on Steve Dreher's young Tilghman Tornadoes Tuesday night. No details at presstime.

The girls will get some much-needed downtime, as they don't hit it again until Jan. 6 when they go to Vienna.
