Harrisburg was on the slate for Massac's baseball team Tuesday evening, and while we don't have the details for this one yet, the last few games have been gut-wrenching for Coach Pat Clark and his squad.
Seneca's Fightin' Irish hung a 6-4 loss on the Pats last week, scoring 3 runs in the top of the seventh after Massac scored four in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead.
Logan Korte had a standout game against Seneca with a triple and single and an RBI.
Korte also made a quality throw to nail an 'Irish runner at the plate. Korte and Zach Travis were the only Pats with multiple hits.
Marion came calling next and pitching was the order of the day. Christian Burgrabe and Noah Matesevac put on a clinic.
Matesevac finally blinked in the sixth inning when Marion got to him for two runs and one more in the seventh while Burgrabe never flinched.
Massac had a couple of chances, but Burgrabe wriggled off the hook both times with a Marion win, 3-0.
And finally, Murphysboro hung a 1-0 heart-breaker on Ethan Parks and the Pats.
Again pitching had the upper hand as Parks and the duo of Corbin Guthman and Ethan Crabtree were terrific.
Ethan Parks limited Murphy to four hits but the Red Devil duo were a touch better giving up just three safeties for Massac.
Massac finishes off the week with a road game at Herrin.
