The phrase “defense optional” came to mind very quickly Friday night, Sept. 2 as Massac County traveled across the river to LaCenter to take on Ballard Memorial’s Bombers.

Massac was on the field “for keeps” for the first time this year, while the Bombers had a couple of bad losses under their belt, giving up 54 points to Marshall County and 32 to Fulton County. Things started ominously for Massac as Ballard’s dazzling “back of all trades” Jerrico Wilson ran around and away from Massac’s defense. That was to be somewhat of a theme for the night.
