GOLCONDA — Six-foot-six guard/forward Kaleb Ramer, of Golconda, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Southeastern Illinois College Falcons this fall.

Ramer played his high school basketball at Massac County High School, but now lives with his grandparents in Golconda.

He was a key member of the Patriots varsity roster under coach Joe Hosman for three years, from 2017-20, where his ability to play both guard and forward proved key. He was known in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference as a 3-point specialist, but as one of the taller players in the conference, could also play in the post on both ends of the floor. He is also a gifted ball-handler for his size, a strong rebounder and a skilled passer.

Out of high school, the 2020 graduate originally signed to play at West Kentucky Community and Technical College in Paducah before the season was canceled last year due to COVID-19.

“Kaleb will be able to do a lot of different things for us,” SIC coach Sam Swinford said. “He is a great 3-point shooter, and his size and versatility will allow us to play him at several positions. After a year of working on his game, he has gotten a lot stronger and quicker, and we are excited to get to work. He’s a gym rat who really enjoys working on his game. He is also a great kid.”

SIC basketball now competes in the National Club Basketball Association (NCBBA), the fastest growing intercollegiate club basketball league in the U.S.

SIC is located in Harrisburg.
