ULLIN — The Shawnee Community College Lady Saints Basketball team is on a hot streak.
The SCC Lady Saints are currently fourth in the region as they went into tournament play on Wednesday night, April 7.
The team increased their streak to three with the win over Kaskaskia College on March 30. Tionne Colyer led the Saints with 27 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The SCC Lady Saints trailed for most of the game against Kaskaskia. After a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter, the Lady Saints rallied to a 75-71 victory.
In addition to the dominating numbers from Colyer, Tishawna Daley added four points and 13 rebounds, followed by Armani Milton and Jayla Rose, who contributed nine points each.
“I am proud of our perseverance,” said head coach Chevis Thompson. “We refused to accept defeat, and we are determined to win. Right now, we are at 9-4 in the conference, and with performances like we saw last night, we are moving into the weekend feeling really good about our fourth-place standing.”
The Lady Saints traveled to Southwestern Illinois College on April 1, increasing their streak to four and their conference record to 10-4 with the 72-50 win.
