Massac County's girls soccer team went on the road to Harrisburg Tuesday and dropped a tough 3-1 decision to the Lady Bulldogs.

The girl's track team was in action Tuesday at Herrin. No details yet.

Monday night, the Massac Unit One School Board approved the hiring of Justin Kindle as the new girl's head basketball coach at the high school. He replaces Jim Prevallet. Kindle is the assistant principal at MCHS and has been an assistant bench coach since 2009.

Prevallet served two stints at the helm of the Lady Patriots program spanning 19 years. His teams won 351 games including 13 regional tournaments, five sectionals and three trips to state.

His 1985-86 team took second place in Class A and the following year they again took second, this time in Class AA.

In 2016 "Coach P." was inducted into the IBCA Hall of Fame.

Massac's boys basketball program released the dates of its Patriot Boys Hoops Camp and the FCA Power Camp. The Patriot camp is to be held June 3-7 and the FCA camp will be June 25-27. Information packets will be sent to the schools in the upcoming weeks and more information will be released about both camps.

Century's baseball team was scheduled to play Dongola and Cairo after their win over Massac County. Unfortunately, the numbers game caught up with both teams as Dongola and Cairo both scrubbed varsity baseball.

The "Cs" did get in a game at Cobden in a GEC conference battle. The Appleknockers did a little knocking not of the orchard variety as they got to Century ace Christian Halvorsen for four runs in two innings and pinned the loss on him.
