A few days after the death of his father, Drake Stepter blitzed the field in the Irvin Cobb Championship this past weekend.

The tournament was shortened to Saturday’s first-round scores due to an almost non-stop rain on Sunday.

Stepter tore up Paxton Park with a nine under par 62. finishing four strokes ahead of Josh Rhodes. who carded a 66.

The win came a week after Stepter repeated as the Rolling Hills Invitational winner. That win also came at the expense of Rhodes, who has won the title four times.

Some folks fold under adversity, others grind it out and find another gear. Drake Stepter was “on a mission.”
