Following the Edwards County home win, the MCHS Patriot Volleyball team hit the road for about a two-week span.
Last week, the girls went to Herrin and went right about their business. A relatively easy two set win -- 25-8, 25-7 -- got the conference schedule off on the right foot.
The Lady Pats got nice performances from Hailey Edwards, Jessie Lewis, Monique Hart and Kelis Adams on the net. Madison Hammonds had 21 digs in addition to five service aces. Kara Womack had 17 assists in the win.
Tuesday night had the girls in West Frankfort for an encounter with the Lady Redbirds. This one was a little tougher, but the girls still managed to mess up the Redbirds' nest with a 25-13 and 25-19, two set win.
Lewis, Hart and Adams continued to control the net with Lewis recording 16 kills and a couple of blocks. Womack continued to "lend a hand" with 28 assists and Sydney Wilke had 10 digs.
The girls are in action against Carterville Thursday night at Carterville.
The wins ran Massac's record to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the SIRR.
